6 Reasons you Should Visit Nyeri County.

In the recent wake of protests for BlackLivesMatter, we have seen a rise in black people and other people of Color standing up against police brutality. This has led to worldwide protests and their anger has rippled thousands of kilometers to Kenya, precisely in Nyeri. one Facebook user commented on a live feed suggesting the protesters should burn the Whitehouse.

One American saw this and posted it on Twitter generation a lot of reaction. One of those reactions was a guy who did a background check on the person that made the comment and in the reply, he said that our guy was from a small village in Kenya. That hit a spot to me, why? I was born and bred in Nyeri and it is not as small as you would like to think. Let me tell you why.

According to the Nyeri County Government website, the county is 3337.10 square kilometers and has a population of 693,558. The county is located in the central highlands of Kenya where the grass is always green, okay not always but it is green. The county is surrounded by nature's beauty. The county is approximately three and a half hours drive from Nairobi. From the ranges that surround it to the views to the vast plant and animal diversity, here are 7 reasons you should visit Nyeri County;

1. Zaina Falls

Located in along the hilly ranges of the Aberdares and about 10km from Nyeri town, Zaina falls provides a beautiful experience where you get to enjoy the cool breeze and the purity of mother nature. You can go there for a picnic or simply to just meditate in the beautiful silence. A few meters from the falls there's an open field where you can lie down and let the sunshine on you, also another good picnic spot. the best part is, to get there, you have to walk through a river, let your feet sink into the river bed as you feel the river washing away your worries and burdens. If you fancy a romantic place to propose, I suggest Zaina Falls. It would cost you around Kshs 150 to 200 to go there. Visit the place.
